Indian Tractor Wholesale May 2021 Sales - Mahindra, TAFE, Sonalika, John Deere, Escorts, New Holland and Kubota

We all are very well aware of the ongoing pandemic caused by Covid-19. This time the second wave hit hard on the domestic tractor sales. At the time of the 1st wave, the tractor industry faced a slight loss, but this time the 2nd wave purely shaken up the industry. In the rural area where demand for tractors is high, there is a severe impact of the corona, and dealerships also face lockdown.

The domestic sales recorded 55599 units in May 2021 against 60441 units in May 2020. This shows a drop in tractor sales by 8%. This data clearly shows that the second wave of Covid-19 hit hard to rural India.

Check out below the following Brand Wise Sales report and market shares.

India’s No.1 Tractor Manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra sold 22843 units in May 2021 against 24017 units in May 2020. This data shows a 4.9% decline in sales. But Mahindra Tractors successfully increased its market share by 1.3%.

Commenting on the performance, Hemant Sikka, President - Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, "We have sold 22843 tractors in the domestic market during May 2021. In May, COVID spread in rural markets led to stringent lockdowns, leading to deferment of tractor purchase and limited operations at dealerships. While state specific lockdowns and localized restrictions continue, it is heartening to see the Covid cases reducing sharply. This is leading to sharp improvement in farmer sentiments and green shoots of recovery are visible, especially since the last week, as farmers start preparing their land for upcoming Kharif crop season. A bumper Rabi harvest, record procurement, food prices holding up, gradual opening up of Mandis and expectations of a normal monsoon will pave the way for growth in the upcoming season. In the exports market, we have sold 1341 tractors with a growth of 314% over last year."
