FADA August 2026: Retail Tractor Sales Rise 0.84% to 87,977 Units

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has released the retail tractor sales data for August 2026. According to the report, 87,977 tractors were sold across India during the month, compared to 87,244 units in August 2025. This marks a 0.84% year-on-year growth in retail tractor sales.

Tractor retail sales, however, declined sharply compared with the previous month. In July 2026, the industry recorded 1,17,349 units, meaning August sales fell by around 25.03% month-on-month. FADA-linked reporting attributed the weaker August performance to pressure from monsoon conditions and rural demand.

Despite the subdued monthly performance, several major tractor manufacturers recorded year-on-year growth and increased their market share during August 2026.

Brand-wise FADA Retail Tractor Sales Performance

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(Tractor Division) continued to lead the retail tractor market with 20,703 units sold in August 2026, compared to 20,159 units in August 2025. The company registered 2.69% YoY sales growth. Its market share increased to 23.53% from 23.11%, showing a gain of 0.42%.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Swaraj Division) retained the second position with 15,914 units sold in August 2026, compared to 15,428 units in the same month last year. The division recorded 3.15% sales growth. Its market share increased to 18.09% from 17.68%, a gain of 0.41%.

International Tractors Limited (Sonalika) recorded 11,818 units in retail tractor sales in August 2026, compared to 10,586 units in August 2025. The company registered 11.63% YoY growth. Further, its market share rose to 13.43% from 12.13%, marking a gain of 1.30%.

TAFE Limited recorded 10,780 units in retail tractor sales during August 2026, compared to 11,030 units a year earlier. The company reported a 2.26% decline in sales. Its market share decreased to 12.25% from 12.64%, a decline of 0.39%.

Escorts KubotaLtd. (Agri Machinery Group) recorded 9,756 units in August 2026, compared to 8,666 units in August 2025. The company registered 12.57% YoY sales growth. Its market share increased to 11.09% from 9.93%, a gain of 1.16%.

John Deere India Pvt. Ltd. (Tractor Division) sold 6,294 units in August 2026 against 5,956 units in August 2025. The company recorded 5.67% sales growth. Its market share improved to 7.15% from 6.83%, increasing by 0.32%.

Eicher Tractors recorded 5,590 units in retail sales in August 2026, compared to 6,059 units in the same month last year. The brand registered a 7.74% decline in sales. Its market share fell to 6.35% from 6.94%, a decline of 0.59%.

CNH Industrial (New Holland India) Pvt. Ltd. recorded 4,170 units in retail tractor sales in August 2026, compared to 3,934 units in August 2025. The company posted 5.99% YoY growth. Its market share increased to 4.74% from 4.51%, showing a gain of 0.23%.

The Others category recorded 2,952 units in August 2026, compared to 5,426 units in August 2025. Sales declined by 45.50%. Its market share also dropped to 3.36% from 6.22%, a decline of 2.86%.

Overall FADA Tractor Retail Sales in August 2026

India's retail tractor sales reached 87,977 units in August 2026, compared to 87,244 units in August 2025, registering 0.84% year-on-year growth.

The August performance was significantly lower than July's 1,17,349 units, resulting in a 25.03% month-on-month decline. FADA's August data also indicated that tractor demand remained sensitive to monsoon conditions, with rural registrations showing growth while urban registrations declined year-on-year.

Among the major OEMs, Escorts Kubota and International Tractors Limited recorded the highest YoY growth rates at 12.57% and 11.63%, respectively. Mahindra & Mahindra retained the top position with a 23.53% market share, followed by Swaraj at 18.09% and International Tractors Limited at 13.43%.
