India's Green Giants: Top 5 States Leading Vegetable Production

Azadpur Mandi stands as the largest fruits and vegetables market in Asia. Daily, it welcomes 4,000 to 5,000 trucks loaded with produce from farmers across the country.

West Bengal grew a whopping 26,354.61 thousand metric tons of vegetables. The most commonly grown vegetables in West Bengal include cabbage, pumpkins, gourds), brinjal and cauliflower.

Uttar Pradesh is the second-largest state in India when it comes to growing vegetables. They produce a whopping 23,575.61 thousand metric tons (MT) of vegetables.

Bihar holds a third position among the vegetable-producing states in India. Annually, it yields an impressive 14,467.15 thousand metric tons (MT) of vegetables.

Madhya Pradesh yields 14,315.41 thousand MT. Its varied landscapes and climate support diverse vegetable cultivation, including gourds like bitter and bottle gourds.

Gujarat, a leading vegetable producer in India, grows 11,543.29 thousand MT of veggies yearly. Diverse climates like Kheda, Dahod, Dang, Narmada, and Valsad favour crops, notably tomatoes.
