Top Masur Producing States in India | Leading Lentil Growers

Masur, or lentil, is a popular pulse crop in India, rich in protein, fibre, and essential nutrients. It is grown in various states across the country, with top producers including:

Uttar Pradesh leads in Indian Masur production. It contributes over 41.05% due to its favourable climate and notable districts like Etawah, Kanpur Dehat, and Mahoba.

With varied soils and climates, Madhya Pradesh contributes 26.7% of India's Masur production, totalling 294,480 metric tons. Key districts are Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, and Damoh.

West Bengal ranks third in India for Masur production, contributing 13.04% with 143.81 tons. Its climate and soil make it ideal. Key districts include Birbhum, Purulia, and Bankura.

In Bihar, the masur production stands at 90,120 units. This contributes 8.17% of the total output, indicating a substantial agricultural contribution to the region's economy.

Jharkhand's masur bean production stands at 52,910 tonnes. It represents a significant 4.8% contribution to the overall regional Masur production.
