Uttar Pradesh leads amla production in India with 35%, followed by Tamil Nadu at 28%. In 2017-18, Uttar Pradesh produced 379,000 metric tons.
Uttar Pradesh is responsible for 35% of India's amla production. Amla is primarily cultivated in districts like Pratapgarh, contributing 80% of the state's production.
Tamil Nadu is India's second-largest amla producer, contributing 28%. It gained commercial momentum in Tamil Nadu, especially in districts like Salem, Coimbatore, and Erode.
Madhya Pradesh, renowned for agriculture in central India, yields a significant 35,000 tonnes of amla annually. While not the largest, it remains a substantial producer in the country.
Andhra Pradesh's climate is conducive for amla cultivation, utilising around 4,991 hectares of land. This results in an estimated annual amla production of 9,982 tons in the region.
Karnataka cultivates amla, also known as the Indian gooseberry. This is particularly successful in Chitradurga, Tumkur, and Kolar due to the favourable climate.
