Producing 28000 tonnes of mushrooms per year, Bihar contributes to about 10.82% of the country’s mushroom production.

Secondly, about 9.89 percent of the mushroom production of the country is attributed to the Maharashtra region. Button mushrooms particularly, that's what the state specialised at.

Next on the list comes the state of Haryana, with 15 percent of the country's mushroom production. Milky mushrooms are this state's specialty.

The list contains Orissa as the 3rd largest producer. 9.66 percent of the total country's production of mushrooms comes from this state.

With 19.80 thousand tonnes of mushrooms being produced per year, Uttarakhand secures 5th place on the list. Uttarakhand, like Punjab, specializes in Oyster Mushroom Production.

Being the sixth largest mushroom producer in India, 7.40 percent of the mushrooms of the country come from Punjab.
