This northeastern state is one of the leading states in Kiwi fruit production. The cool climate and hilly terrain make conditions favourable for its growth.
Nagaland’s geography and gov. schemes are a driving force in its Kiwi cultivation. Here farmers mainly grow Actinidia deliciosa (green kiwi) & Actinidia arguta (golden kiwi).
Sikkim has become a significant contributor to Kiwi production in India. It is cultivated in areas like Mangan, Singtam and Gangtok.
Manipur produces relatively limited Kiwis than Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Nagaland. The government and authorities promote kiwi farming practices.
Shimla, Kullu, Manali and Mandi are famous for Kiwi production in India. Actinidia deliciosa (green kiwi) and Actinidia arguta (golden kiwi) are prominent varieties.
Kiwi production is common in mid-hilly areas of Uttar Pradesh. Famous varieties include Allison, Bruno, Monty, Hayward, Bruno and Brown.
