Seeing as to how we have a rich textile culture, it is no surprise that we as a country are leading the global cotton production with 6.4 million tonnes produced per year.

Then comes China, in the list of cotton producers. With an annual output of around 5.9 million tonnes, China's cotton demand is still so high that it has a hard time meeting demands. In addition, it manages exports as well!

The third largest producer, United States. It generates about 3.9 million tonnes of cotton, and exports a good amount of it.

Brazil grows several varieties as it has a climactic advantage over the other countries around it. With an annual output of about 2.7 million tonnes of cotton, it stands fourth.

Being the fifth largest producer, Pakistan has gained this accolade by producing about 2.1 million tonnes every year. Pakistan has a textile business that largely utilises home-grown cotton.

With a whopping 1.6 million tonnes of cotton per year, Turkey stands sixth in this list. Turkey's cotton is popular both in the country and all over the world!
