With a chickpea cultivation area of 3.11 Million Hectares, Madhya Pradesh is responsible for 33.84 percent of total country’s production. All in all, it is responsible for 2.69 million tonne production.
Coming second in line, Rajasthan has a cultivation area of 1.78 million hectares. On the percentage angle, it produces 19.37. That makes the whole production 1.60 million tonnes.
When it comes to the State of Maharashtra, the 1.44 million hectares cultivation area, it grows 15.67% of the country's total yield. 1.30 million tonnes of chickpeas are produced in this state per year.
Uttar Pradesh, on the other hand, has a cultivation area of 0.57 million hectares dedicated to chickpea farming, producing 6.20% of total production. Cumulatively, UP produces about 0.53 Million tonnes of chickpeas.
With a cultivation area of 0.58 million hectares, Andhra Pradesh produces 6.31% of chickpeas of total production. That makes the whole production about 0.72 million tonnes.
Lastly, Karnataka has about 0.96 million hectares of chickpea plantation, and it produces around 10.45 % of total production. This state produces about 0.63 million tonnes of chickpeas.
