It is small in size and white in color, hence its name is white button mushroom. These types of mushrooms are used for chicken casserole, seasonal braise and warming stew.
Closed cup mushrooms are a medium and most common type of mushroom. It is a multipurpose mushroom and can be stuffings, fried for sauces and eaten raw in salads.
Open Cup/Flat Mushrooms are white and large in shape and size. It is best for roasting whole and can be used in a meat burger as a veggie alternative.
Chestnut mushrooms are brown in color and can be used in place of closed cup mushrooms. It has a nutty and slightly deeper flavour. These mushrooms can be used in aubergine pizza pie, mushroom risotto.
Portobello Mushrooms are best to use for baking and stuffing. It has a meaty texture which can be used as a great toast topper when fried and sliced.
