India's Top 5 Largest Tea Producing States

Everyone all over the world knows about tea, and how healthy and popular it is. It grows in India quite well, and these are the top states that produce it.

Assam dominates the Indian tea industry with a vast production of 652.95 million kg. With 307.08 thousand hectares of tea cultivation, Assam contributes over 50% to the country's total tea production.

West Bengal secures the second position in tea production, contributing 329.70 million kg. With 140.44 thousand hectares of tea cultivation, West Bengal is renowned for its diverse range of teas, including green, oolong, black, and white tea.

Tamil Nadu's tea production stands at 161.46 million kg. Cultivated over 69.62 thousand hectares, Tamil Nadu's tea is known for its distinct flavors, thanks to the region's favorable rainfall and geographical conditions.

Kerala holds the fourth position in tea production, with an output of 56.63 million kg. Spread across 35.01 thousand hectares, tea cultivation in Kerala benefits from the state's suitable climatic conditions, including temperature and rainfall.

Karnataka ranks fifth in tea production, contributing 6.46 million kg. Utilizing 2.22 thousand hectares of land, Karnataka has the potential for higher yields with proper attention and favorable climatic conditions.
