India's Top 5 Dragon Fruit producing States

Dragon Fruits are low in calories, but every bit as fibrous and rich in antioxidants. It fights diseases ranging from diabetes to cancer. In addition, it improves our immunity too!

With an average yield of 8 to 10 tonnes of dragon fruit per hectare per year, Karnataka takes the top spot. It is grown through organic methods with the help of drip irrigation.

The second largest dragon fruit producer in India is the Country of God. Wayanad, Palakkad, Thrissur and Malappuram are some of the districts in the state which grow this fruit.

Coinbatore, Erode, Salem and Dharmapuri are the Tamil Nadu districts that cultivating dragon fruit, and they place Tamil Nadu third on the radar of the top dragon fruit producers.

The fourth dragon fruit producer on the list is Maharashtra, with an average yield of 6 - 8 tonnes per hectare. Farmers here use manure and vermicompost.

Last of all, the fifth largest is Gujarat, with districts such as the Kutch, Surashtra, Ahmedabad and Vadodara.
