Choosing a perfect watermelon in shops is always a confusing task. Most people don’t know the tips for choosing the right one. Come, let’s check out the amazing 5 tips:
The watermelon's stem, which connected it to the vine, needs to be brown and dry. A green stem suggests that the melon was not quite ripe and was harvested too soon.
Look at the watermelon and check for small, sticky black or brown patches on the skin. Sugar spots are regions on the watermelon where sugar has seeped out, indicating a sweeter fruit.
The lighter stripes should be creamy yellow, not white or shiny, and the darker stripes should be deep, rich emerald green. These vibrant lines indicate the melon's sweetness.
Don’t pick watermelons based on their size. Gather several melons of comparable size and hold them gently in your palms. The one that seems a lot heavier is probably the juicier and sweeter one.
Lightly tap the watermelon with your knuckles. A ripe watermelon sounds like a drum with a deep, hollow tone. If it sounds dull, it may be underripe. Conversely, a hollow sound is a sign of overripeness.
