Green apples are fruits that are, well, green. They're sour and crunchy. People eat them raw or use them in pies and salads. They're packed with vitamins and are good for you.
Green apples are grown in various states across India, including Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and parts of Punjab. These regions have suitable climates and soil conditions.
For green apple farming, prepare the land by clearing debris and weeds. Plough the soil to loosen it and improve drainage. Add organic matter like compost. Level the land and create rows for planting apple trees.
To plant green apples, choose a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice as wide and deep as the root ball. Place the tree backfill with soil and water thoroughly. Keep the soil moist and protect it from pests.
Harvesting green apples involves picking them from trees when they are firm and green in colour. It's usually done carefully by hand to avoid damaging the fruit. Green apples are often harvested before they fully ripen.
