Karnataka is India's top tamarind producer, contributing significantly to the tamarind production. Now, let's delve into the country's key states known for tamarind cultivation.
Karnataka leads the pack as India's foremost producer of tamarind, contributing a substantial 48.79 thousand metric tonnes, which translates to an impressive 28.04% share of the total production.
Following closely is Tamil Nadu, securing the second position with an annual tamarind production of 45.22 thousand metric tonnes, representing a significant 25.99% share.
Kerala, another prominent state in tamarind cultivation, clinches the third spot with a commendable production volume of 32.31 thousand metric tonnes, contributing 18.57% to the overall output.
Andhra Pradesh ranks fourth among the largest tamarind producers in India. Annually harvesting 14.32 thousand metric tonnes of tamarind, accounting for an 8.23% share.
Telangana secures the fifth position among tamarind-producing states. This state contributes 12.66 thousand metric tonnes, reflecting a 7.28% share of the total tamarind production in India.
