Sugarcane belongs to the bamboo family and is native to India. It is the main source of sugar, jaggery and khandsari.
For Sugarcane farming, 20-30°C temperature, 75-150 cm rainfall, 20-25°C sowing temperature and 20-30°C Harvesting Temperature.
There are widely popular varieties of sugarcane in India. Some are CoJ 85, Co 118, CoJ 64, CoH 119 and many others.
The land should be ploughed twice. The first ploughing should be done at a 20-25 cm depth. Then, crush clouds with suitable equipment or machinery.
There are three sugarcane sowing methods, ie. Dry planting in ridges and furrows, Paired row planting and Ring Pit method.
Some farmers use a hand sugar refractometer to determine the correct harvest time. Sickles are used for harvesting.
