Areas of strawberry cultivation

In India, strawberry cultivation areas are concentrated in Mahabaleshwar, Ooty, Idukki, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and India’s northeast states.

Soil requirements for cultivation

Dry sandy soil is best suited for strawberry plant growth and cultivation. Heavy waterlogging soils are not suitable for strawberry's overall growth.

Steps involved in cultivation

Bed preparation, Basal Dose (18:46:00 Di-Ammonium Phosphate: Not more than 50 Kg/acre), mulching, irrigation, planting, and fertigation.

Strawberry plant lifecycle

The entire life of the strawberry plant is 8-9 months. Under normal conditions, the plant starts flowering after 35-40 days of the plantation.

Harvesting of strawberry plant

When strawberry fruit gets its 50-75% natural crimson colour, it is advised to start harvesting. Morning is the most suitable time for harvesting.
