Soybeans are commonly referred to as the Golden Bean, and they are a legume crop that is native to East Asia. Glycine max is its biological name. Soybean oil remains one of the most widely used edible oils in India.
Soybean is a high-protein, high-nutritional food. It has zero cholesterol and is lower in fat. Soybean possesses isoflavones and is a great source of fiber. This helps to lower the risk of numerous malignancies, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis.
Soyabena is known differently in various states of India. For instance, it is referred to as Soya Chikkudu in Telugu, Suntha Kadalai in Tamil and Soya in kannada. Also, the other local names of soybean are Soyabean in Malayalam and Soyabean in Marathi.
Soybean varieties grown in India include PK 416, VL Soya 21, MACS 124, Pusa 16, PK 1092, Hara Soya, Pusa 9814, Pratap Soya 2, and more.
Soybeans flourish in warm, humid areas. Most soybean types tend to prefer temperatures ranging from 26 to 32°C. Soybean farming requires soil temperatures of 16°C or above to ensure quick germination and vigorous growth of seedlings.
Soybean farming necessitates well-drained, rich loamy soils with a pH range of 6.0 to 7.5. Soybean seed development is inhibited by saline and sodic soils.
