Karnataka and Maharashtra lead India's rose production, followed by Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. These states offer diverse rose varieties for domestic and foreign markets.
Karnataka produces 1,71,880 tonnes of rose yearly due to its varied climate and fertile soil. Regions like Ooty and Channarayapatna are particularly conducive to growing roses.
Due to its ideal climate and soil conditions, West Bengal is India's second-largest rose producer, producing 65,920 tonnes of cut roses between 2021 and 2022.
Uttar Pradesh is India's third-highest rose producer, with 22,770 tonnes of cut rose and 40,460 tonnes of loose rose in 2021-2022. However, the Ghazipur district is a significant rose producer.
Roses flourish in Gujarat's arid regions, especially in districts like Ahmedabad. Anand, Vadodara, Kheda, Rajkot, Surat, Valsad, and Navsari are major rose production hubs in Gujarat.
Tamil Nadu is a top rose-producing state with ideal conditions for cultivating diverse and vibrant roses. It produced 28,450 tonnes of loose and 5,540 tonnes of cut roses in 2021-2022.
