Ginger is an essential ingredient in making food, and the demand for ginger in India is high. Ginger is used in tea, vegetables, and at times of cold. Currently Ginger is 150 to 200 Rs. Per kg in India.

Basically, sandy loam, clay loam, lateritic loam, and red soil are the soils required to cultivate ginger and require about 15.5°c temperature to grow.

Overall there are 16 varieties of ginger, a few of which are Etlingera elatior, shell ginger, white ginger, galangal, alpinia caerulea are grown in different parts of the world.

The land should be ploughed 5-6 times thoroughly to early summer showers to bring the soil to fine tilth. Beds of about 1m width and 30 cm deep.

Fertilizers should be applied in 2-3 splits of doses. The use of phosphorus should be at the proper time for better growth. Proper irrigation of water should be done.

Ginger gains its maturity in 210-214 days after seed sowing. Harvesting of ginger based on the sowing time is after 180 days or when the leaf's trunks become yellow or dry.
