Well-drained sandy loam soil with a ph level between 5.5-6.5 is ideal for growing this tropical fruit.
Adult papaya plant needs 6-8 litres of water a day with drip irrigation & 16 litres with regular normal watering methods.
Phosphamidon (not above 0.05%) or Methyl Parathion (not above 0.04%) is ideal for controlling pests.
The suitable spacing between plants is 6-7 feet. This helps small tillers to tilt on land between plants for better water absorption.
