Oyster mushrooms grow naturally in tropical forests over decaying wooden logs. Popularly known as dhingri in India.
Oyster mushrooms can be grown on a straw. Follow the steps carefully to improve your crop yield.
Chop the straw and keep it 1 to 2 inches apart for the mycelium to grow.
Treat the straw. This kills off harmful microorganisms. Inoculate the treated straw by adding the spawn, then incubate the spawn inoculation at 75 degrees.
Discard the contaminated bags. Keep the mycelium bags in high humidity (70-85%). Spray water frequently.
Harvest the spawn in 5 to 10 days after fruiting. Make sure you follow optimal hygiene throughout the planting and harvest processes.
