NABARD's Organic Farming Scheme subsidises bio-fertilizer unit setup. 25-33% of costs covered, released in two instalments through banks. Projects are completed in 15 months, with 10-year repayment.
NABARD's subsidy aids both small and large farmers. Small-scale farmers establish compost units, saving on production costs. They may also sell excess compost for extra income.
The organic farming subsidy is appealing, but land acquisition and financing are delayed. Farmer awareness of organic benefits needs to be improved, along with marketing challenges and quality maintenance issues.
To apply for organic farming subsidy: Plan and submit to the bank. Bank approves and sends to NABARD. NABARD assesses and approves the loan. Bank disburses 50%. Remaining 50% released after bank assessment.
Documents needed for subsidy are a Project plan, bank approval, an Aadhaar card, address proof, a ration card, property details, and a passport-sized photo.
India's government promotes organic farming with subsidies, training, and awareness, prioritising sustainability, soil health, and environmental safety for agricultural advancement.
