Mosambi is propagated by budding. The best planting time is from February to March and June to August. The soil must be thoroughly ploughed, and added nutrients and fertilisers.
Planting depends on the soil type and irrigation. The general spacing required is 6X6 m, and pits must be 1X1X1 m in size. Drip irrigation is recommended with N:P:K fertilisers.
Fruits take 6 to 8 months to mature after flowering. They are harvested when they turn yellowish-green with a sweet taste. It must be graded according to size, colour and quality.
The yield depends on various factors. Generally, a mosambi plant can yield about 50 to 100 kg of fruits annually. With 300 healthy trees, you can expect around 18000 kg per acre.
Mosambi fruits have a short shelf life and are prone to spoilage. It must be stored at 5°C to 10°C for 2 weeks. Mosambi juice is popular across India and therefore is sold easily.
