In this farming, irrigation systems are used to inadvertently water the plants when the rainfall is insufficient to sustain the crops. This cultivation is done on a large scale in areas where rainfall is insufficient.
Groundwater from Wells, Tube Wells, Canals and Tanks are major irrigation sources. Other sources are Rain, Rivers, Pounds etc.
There are two methods of Irrigation System: traditional and modern methods.
This method includes various methods such as Check Basin Method, Strip Irrigation Method, Furrow Irrigation and Basin Irrigation.
A modern irrigation method has 4 types: Surface Irrigation, Sprinkler Irrigation, Drip Irrigation, and Subsurface Irrigation.
Irrigation systems provide higher Crop yields than rainfed areas. Along with this, it guarantees necessary soil dampness content for seed.
