PM Kisan Yojana aims to support Indian farmers, especially small ones, by providing financial assistance. It was launched in 2018, and it benefits 125 million farmers through direct income transfers.
PM-KISAN Scheme was inspired by Telangana's Ryuthu Bandhu scheme in 2018, providing direct financial aid to farmers. It was launched on December 1, 2018, and allocates Rs. 75,000 crore annually.
PM-KISAN provides Rs.6000 annually to eligible farmer families, divided into three Rs.2000 installments every four months. The Indian Government provided funding, with Rs.75000 crore reserved yearly.
Small and marginal farmers with cultivable land who are Indian citizens are eligible for PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana. Both rural and urban farmers can apply, but certain categories are excluded.
Not all farmers qualify for the PM Kisan scheme. Excluded are institutional landholders, government officials, politicians, tax filers, pensioners earning over Rs. 10,000, and families with doctors or engineers.
To register for PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, individuals need to provide their Aadhaar Card, proof of citizenship, documents proving land ownership, and details of their bank account, which should be submitted online.
