Dates are grown mainly in Gulf countries, but it can be grown in India as well.
Contain iron, nicotinic acid and potassium among other nutrients. It can help in regulating bowel movements, controlling diarrhea, regulating anaemia etc.
They require low humidity to grow, and plenty of sunshine.
Soil should be kept well-drained and loamy. In addition, a pH level of 8 to 10 is also required.
Plant the saplings with 8 metres between the rows. Plough the field 2 to 3 times before planting.
Dates are ready for harvest in 6 to 7 years after planting them.
