The coconut is rich in Manganese, which helps bone health and the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and cholesterol. Rich in other minerals such as Iron, these have enriched antioxidants.
Soil types such as alluvial, laterite, red sandy loam, and coastal sandy loam with pH ranging from 5.2 to 8.0.
Coconut can grow under a variety of climatic conditions. And a yearly rainfall of about 2000 mm per year is most suitable for its even growth.
An average amount of 40 L of water per palm tree per week can increase the yield by 50%. However, drip irrigation is considered among the most effective irrigation methods.
Around 20-50 Kg of manure per palm tree is highly effective. Ammonium Sulphate, Urea, Super Phosphate, Rock Phosphate, and Potash are some of the fertilisers recommended.
Coconut trees become ready to harvest in about 12 months. With 2-6 harvests, the plant yields around 80-100 nuts per tree per annum.
