Capsicum has shallow roots and hence benefits from loose soil texture. The soil should be slightly acidic with a pH level range of 5.8 to 6.5.
The planting material should be healthy, resistant to diseases & pests. Ideal seed age should be between 35 and 40 days. 16 – 20 cm should be the height of the seedling.
The plant should possess a good rooting system. The seedling should have at least 4 – 6 leaves on the stem at the time of plantation.
Irrigation should be done immediately after planting. Subsequent irrigation should be done at an interval of 5-7 days depending on soil type and weather conditions.
Fertilizer application should be done in two splits. The first split should be done at the time of planting and the second split after one month of planting.
Capsicums are harvested when they attain full size and color. The first harvest can be done after 60-70 days of planting.
