Bottle gourd is known by various names in various languages, including Sorakya/Anapakaya in Telugu, Chorakka in Malyalam, Sorekai in Kannada, Ghia/Lauki in Hindi, and Zeeth in Kashmiri.
Summer and monsoon are often the best times to grow Bottle gourd seeds. Its cultivation necessitates damp and hot environmental conditions. It grows best at temperatures ranging from 20 to 32 degrees Celsius.
Bottle gourd may be cultivated in a variety of soil conditions. This vegetable thrives particularly well in sandy loamy soils with adequate drainage.
It takes 6 to 7 plowings accompanied by harrowing to get the soil to a finer tilth. For growing, the pH level of the soil should be between 6.5 and 7.5.
