Beetroot requires a temperature of 18-25 degrees Celsius. Henceforth, the most suitable season is winter in India.
Beetroot is mostly grown in loose, well-drained, organic-rich, and porous soil. A pH ranging between 6-7 is preferably good for the crop.
The beetroot requires irrigation every 3 days on sunny days and once in 5 days during cloudy weather. However, water logging is harmful to plants.
Some of the popular varieties include Detroit Dark Red, Crimson Globe, Crosby Egyptian, Early Wonder, Ooty 1, and Red Ball.
Beetroot requires 4-5 months of harvesting time. The yield of beetroot is around 8 tonnes per acre.
