Banana Farming in India 2023 - Special Guide For Beginners

Published Feb 24, 2023

Banana is known for improving the digestive system and blood sugar levels. The fruit is full of antioxidants and is good for the heart.

The fruit grows well in soils having good drainage, apt fertility, and moisture. However, rich loamy soil with a pH between 6-7.5 is most suitable for its cultivation.

The fruit is a tropical crop and grows well in the temperature range of 15-35 degrees Celsius with a relative humidity of 75-85%.

Bananas need large amounts of water to grow (approx. 2000 mm per annum). However, the roots of the fruit are poor water absorbers. Hence, drip irrigation is the most effective option.

Dwarf Cavendish, Robusta, Monthan, Poovan, Nendran, Red Banana, Nyali, Safed Velchi, Bsarai, Rasthali, etc., are some of the popular varieties.
