Shalimar, California paper shells, Merced, Nonpareil are the popular varieties. And Thompson, Butte, Monterey, Ruby and other varieties of Almonds.
Its cultivation is between 30C to 35C. And the soil ph level required 7.0 to 8.5. It needs frequent irrigation.
For productivity, almonds can be mixed with crops such as Pulses, Pea, Carrot, Saffron and others.
Almonds can be harvested after 8 months of flowering and when the plant becomes 6 to 7 years old, high quality nuts can be obtained.
We can obtain 1400 to 2600 pounds of almonds from one acre of land, and the market price of almonds is Rs. 770 to 780 per kilogram.
