The state contributes to India’s 20% marine fish production with approx. 8.35 lakh tonnes of fish per year. It has a long coastline of about 1600 km and rich marine biodiversity.
With a coastline of about 1076 km, Tamil Nadu produces about 7.07 lakh tonnes of fish per year. It is one of the leading states in marine fish production and aquaculture.
Kerala produces about 6.43 lakh tonnes of fish per year. It is famous for its backwater fisheries and ornamental fish culture.
The state has a coastline of about 480 km and produces about 5.16 lakh tonnes of fish per year. It has vast potential for brackish water aquaculture and inland fisheries.
