Mahindra Farm Equipment Sector has announced it sold 17,213 units of tractors in the domestic market in December 2019, up 4 percent from 16,510 units recorded in the same month in 2018.
The company's export number has dipped 13 percent to 777 units last month, as against 894 units shipped in December 2018.
Commenting on the performance, Rajesh Jejurikar, President, Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, said, “We have sold 17,213 tractors in the domestic market during December 2019 with a growth of 4% over last year."
Total tractor sales for the homegrown company in December 2019 was 17,990 units, compared to 17,404 units sold in the same month of 2018.
Cumulatively, the company has sold 242,625 units in this fiscal between April-December, 10 percent down from 269,558 units sold during the same period in last fiscal.
He also said, "Tractor demand looks positive in the near term led by the expectation of a better Rabi output, supported by crop prices and government thrust on irrigation, rural infra & agri sector. In the exports market, we have sold 777 tractors”.
