FY 2021-22 has not been much promising for the tractor industry. Many tractor companies have sold less tractors in this financial year compared to the previous year. As a result, there has been a decline in tractor sales yearly and monthly. For example, leading tractor manufacturer Escorts Agri Machinery has sold 11.7% less tractors in FY 21-22. But the good news is that the growth of tractors in the export market has been promising. Escorts Agri Machinery Sold 94228 Tractors in FY 2022

Escorts Agri Machinery has sold 94228 tractors with a decline of 11.7% in FY 2022. Whereas in the last financial year 2021, 1,06,741 tractors were sold. The company has registered a decrease in the domestic market and growth in the export market. The company has sold 87,043 tractors in the domestic market against 1,01,848 units sold in the last financial year. Thus a decline of 14.5% has been registered. At the same time, the company has sold 7185 tractors in the export market, with a growth of 46.8% as compared to 4893 units sold in the last financial year.

Escorts Agri Machinery Sold 10,074 Tractors in March 2022

Escorts Agri Machinery has been disappointing in the domestic market for the last few months. The company sold 10,074 tractors in March 2022, while in March 2021 last year, the company sold 12337 tractors. Thus, on a year-on-year basis, sales of tractors have declined by 18.3%. In addition, the company has sold 9483 units in the domestic market compared to 11,730 tractors sold in the same month last year. Thus a decline of 19.2% has been registered. On the other hand, the company has sold 591 tractors with a drop of 2.6% in the export market compared to 607 tractors sold in the same month last year.

The last quarter FY22 sales numbers for Escorts Agri Machinery have not been promising. The company has sold 21895 tractors with a decline of 32.8% in the domestic and export market from January to March 22 compared to 32588 tractors sold in the last quarter of the previous financial year.

Escorts expect better sales in the future despite the domestic and export markets downturn during March 2022. Escorts said it expects bumper production of Rabi crop this year, good reservoir levels, increase in Union budget allocation for rural and agriculture sector, and early signs of normal monsoon will provide positive momentum for tractor industry in future. However, rising inflation is a matter of concern.
