President of Agricultural Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, Mr Hemant Sikka, said - “We have sold 39405 unit tractors in the domestic market during April 2022, which is 51% more than last year. Our market has seen decent growth due to good market demand. There has been a good improvement in Rabi harvesting in all the markets. Between the prevailing global situation and the high export of wheat from India, the Indian wheat crop demand has been very high, and this is getting the farmers higher prices than the MSP in the open market. Besides, oilseeds are fetching higher market value in the domestic market. Both IMD and Skymet have predicted a normal monsoon for this year, which is very good for the upcoming Kharif season. It is also expected to give good sales to the tractor industry.”

With tremendous 43.5% growth in the domestic market, we have surpassed industry growth of est. 41% even at such high growth levels, and this has certainly set the course for us in this year. I am grateful to our customers for this incremental trust level in our technologically advanced and customized tractors and our channel partners who remain committed with us to deliver better than the best globally.”

Instead, the Meteorological Department has also predicted a normal monsoon with the chance of good rains in July. Considering all these factors, if sowing is done on time this year, we expect the company to have good retail sales in the upcoming two months. However, though we have hiked the prices of agri machinery in April 2022, inflationary pressure on commodity prices continues to cause concern for the company.”
